Transformers convert voltage or current from one level to another through magnetic induction of the windings. The ratio of the transformer’s windings should be kept under because a slight change can cause instability in the electrical facility. Some of the common causes of changes in winding relationship are corrosion, winding shorts, open connections and bad terminals.

A ratio tester is an instrument used to help assess the winding relationship condition of transformers. The measured results are then compared to the baseline data to determine if the parameters of the transformer are still within the manufacturer’s limits.

The ATRT-03A has similar features with the ATRT-03 model but can be powered by 2 12 V batteries. The batteries allows you to use the tester continuously for three hours. The ATRT-03A has an integrated charger so you can charge the batteries directly from the device. This feature makes the ATRT-03A easy to carry around substations or in the field.
