Sulfur-hexafluoride (SF6) is used as a dielectric in high power gas insulated equipment such as breakers, switches, transformers and transmission lines, and is normally a very stable, non-reactive gas, even in the presence of high energy discharge.
SF6 alone is desired within gas insulated equipment however, it is possible for water vapor to permeate the internal components of the apparatus. While water vapor and SF6 are normally non-reactive with each other, in the presence of a high-energy discharge, the hydrogen and oxygen of the water vapor may react with the sulfur and fluorine of the SF6 creating compounds that are corrosive to the internal workings of the equipment.
Since SF6 with low water vapor content significantly reduces the potential for the formation of corrosive compounds, an SF6 gas analyzer is a critical component to any preventative maintenance program for gas insulated equipment.

With the DILO 3-038R-R303 Zero Emission SF6 Analyzer the following parameters are measured:
- SF6concentration (%)
- Moisture concentration
- SO2concentration (ppmv )
- Option: HF concentration, H2S concentration, CO concentration (in ppmv each)
