Insulation resistance testers can be used to determine the integrity of windings or cables in motors, transformers, switchgear, and electrical installations. The test method is determined by the type of equipment being tested and the reason for testing. For instance, when testing electrical cabling or switchgear (low-capacitance equipment) the time-dependent capacitive leakage and absorption leakage currents become insignificant and decrease to zero almost instantly. A steady conductive leakage current flow is reached almost instantly (a minute or less) providing perfect conditions for the spot-reading/short-time resistance test.
The Megger 210415 15kV Analog Megohmeter is an insulation test set used in measuring resistances on cable insulations and insulation of other electrical devices.
A high voltage Megohmmeter, the Megger 210415 has a variable output voltage of up to 15 Kilo Volts, and can measure insulation resistances of up to 100,000 Megohms. The test set can conduct dielectric absorption and step voltage tests which makes it ideal in detecting bad insulation spots and bad layers in multi-layered insulators. The Megger 210415 also features an integrated voltage stabilizer that can be switched on for accurate measurements.
APPLICATIONS of the Megger 210415
– Suitable for dielectric absorption and stepvoltage testing
– Provides direct reading measurements up to 100,000 MΩ at 5 kV and up to 200,000 MΩ at 10 kV, with a multiplying factor for all other voltages up to 15 kV.
– Features an internal voltage stabilizer that may be activated for improved measurement under extreme field conditions.
– Separate on/off controls are provided for power and high voltage, and a red light indicates when high voltage is on.
