When it comes to detecting weak cables, the solution has frequently been worse than the problem. Many electrical testing instruments used to find cable weakness are often the cause of the very weakness they are trying to detect. Not so with the HV Diagnostics high voltage VLF and DC testing system – the HVA30.
Able to detect very low voltage frequencies, its primary function serves to test AC hipot in cabling of medium voltages. As many international standards have recognized, DC hipot testing is no longer the preferred method to use on medium voltage systems. The need for VLF systems is fully recognized in the HVA 30. Users no longer have to be concerned about which test to apply or what parameter is needed as this system automates the selection process to avoid cable overstress.
Its versatility and flexibility also allows for testing of other types of apparatus including transformers, rotators and switch gear. Built in functions allow for onboard test result storage for later data analysis, and the multi-test capability include options for testing of all outputs including AC, VLF and DC as well as sine wave independent or symmetrical.
