The simplest means by which to measure a discharged capacitor is to apply an electrical current to the unit and measure the rate at which the voltage in the capacitor changes. With a known input, this process can be used to determine the capacitance of relatively large capacitors with a small test current.
The ABB CB-2000 Portable Capacitance Meter is a measurement unit especially developed for measuring the capacitance of high power capacitors without making any disconnections within the capacitor bank.
In order to minimize power consumption, the low voltage (less than 1.4 V) test signal of the ABB CB-2000 Portable Capacitance Meter is generated only when a measurement is made.
The measurement frequency of the ABB CB-2000 is automatically adjusted according to the measured capacitance for best possible results, and to ensure reproducibility, up to five measurements can be stored and shown for each measurement object.
