Vanguard’s EZCT series of current transformer testers are designed to be rugged and portable, ideal for industrial and field applications. They can perform the CT excitation, polarity and ratio tests. These testers allow you to test current transformers in their field-mounted configuration. This reduces the need to remove the CT from the host electrical component.
The EZCT series of current transformer testers can perform excitation tests as specified by the ANSI/IEEE C57.13.1, IEC 60044-1 methodology. These testers apply a variable AC test voltage to the current transformer’s secondary windings. The EZCT then records the test voltage and excitation voltage injected to the CT during the test. The EZCT testers also have a built-in thermal printer that lets you plot up to 10 knee-point voltages and excitation curves. The testers can also calculate and print out IEEE-30, IEEE-45, ANSI/IEC 60044-1 knee-point voltages.
The EZCT testers can determine the ratio of current transformers using the ANSI/IEEE C57.12.90 measurement technique. This test is carried out by applying a test voltage on the current transformers X terminals. The induced voltage is then measured across the H1 and H2 terminals of the current transformer. Winding polarity is displayed as in-phase (+) or out-of-phase (-) sign and annotated with the phase angle.
