Very low frequency or VLF hipot testing was developed in the 80s as a more acceptable method of testing over traditional DC hipot tests. This testing method uses a pass fail results system without the greater potential for causing damage to equipment like the higher voltage DC high potential tests. VLF testing can be performed on cables, transformers, switch gear or rotating machines.
