What is Doble Test?
Doble test is slang for a power factor/dissipation test that is performed on MV cables, motors and transformers. The equipment to be tested is supplied with an AC voltage below the normal rating. Simultaneously, the dielectric losses occurring to the ground are also measured and recorded. After proper corrections of the field measurements to compare to standard conditions, the test results are compiled and compared to standard guides.
Why perform a Doble test?
Whenever electrical systems malfunction, the reason can be tracked down to breakdown of the insulation system. Power factor test or Doble test is the best method to detect any defects in the insulation of the electrical systems and take proactive action to prevent loss.
